1st British Grand Prix Brooklands 1926

This is very very special for a number of reasons!

We are honoured to be able to offer this original Nockolds Artwork.

This is currently the best and most significant artwork at The Mabileau gallery.

It is original and dated 1926 so we can safely assume that Nockolds was 15 when he did this! It was in fairly poor condition when we sourced it and we have undertaken complete restoration - The mount card is important as it denotes the corresponding position of each competitor so we wanted to keep this, however it was badly acid affected - Lisu (our paper restorer) undertook to peel the top layer of paper from the mount and relaminate it onto conservation mount card - a very scary process! however the operation was entirely sucessful so we managaed to preserve the original but restore it to conservation quality. When we assessed the original art we were delighted to find Roys handwritten notation on the back and we have photographed this onto acetate so that it can be viewed without removing the work from the frame, this is as good as it gets in terms of artisitc merit and historical importance so we will be very particular when selling it on.
