This Lithograph features Boillot in the race winning Peugeot thundering through the centre of Amiens (Averaging 72MPH), closely pursued by Jules Goux in the second Peugeot (No.14). The casualties in this race were unacceptable to the French authorities and it was never run again. One of the notable accidents was KLG Guinness running his Sunbeam into the river!
Original hand coloured Litho by Gamy. Produced by Mabileau & Co. (Paris). 1913.
This artwork has been restored by Mabileau & Co (Cheltenham) in 2024. It has been reframed & glazed with UV protection glass. A French tri-colour has been cut into the acid free mount card to further highlight the French provenance of this piece and the significance of the 1913 French ‘Grand Prix’ The lithograph has been professionally cleaned to remove signs of acid damage (foxing) although the original ‘character’ of the work has been kept to preserve its 112 year history. It is complete with a new royal blue moulded frame and is double mounted to enable a red ‘highlight’ around the image.
